On Friday, September 23, the Deer River Healthcare Volunteers partnered with Forward Health Foundation in hosting a Sock Hop at the Deer River Vet’s Club to raise funds supporting care for local cancer patients. Guests enjoyed burger baskets for sale, raffles and t-shirt sales, a ‘best dressed’ contest and a dance. With volunteers from Essentia Health, the community, and the DRHC Volunteers, many hands made light work with proceeds benefiting our family, friends and neighbors who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Established in honor of Jim Tarbell, the Jim Tarbell Cancer Care Fund through Forward Health Foundation provides cancer care packets to patients who are diagnosed with cancer and includes a VISA gift card and local cancer resources. These funds can also assist in supporting providers and staff at Essentia Health – Deer River with resources to enhance compassionate care, including meals or comfort items for patients and caregivers during chemotherapy.
The Deer River Healthcare Volunteers use these funds to provide cancer patients with additional gift cards and comfort items.
